Rory

I met Rory at the top of the mountain, he was working at a ski resort called Stevens Pass. We got to talking and he offered his place to me, so I was obligated to take him up on that offer. His house was about another 10-15 miles after the pass. We got to Rory's house and first thing we did was go for a swim in the Nason Creek (left phone in sun so couldn't get pictures) but the creek was refreshing and Rory told me how it's usually too cold to go swimming there because the creek if from melting snow, but they had a VERY mild winter last year and they are feeling the repercussions this summer. It is very dry out here and everyone here is in a level three fire warning.

After listening to some of Rory's life stories of growing up and moving from ski mountain to ski mountain, he has found a home here at Stevens Pass and has worked there for the past 15 years. From the sounds of it, he is a phenomenal snowboarder and that is his passion. We had some great conversations and we talked a lot about green energy and recycling. Rory was a great host and he treated me to an awesome dinner of chicken, scalloped potatoes and green beans.

Overall, he was someone who said he does not have too much time for people and doesn't enjoy interacting with them too much, but he is a very kind soul and is always willing to lend a hand. Good on ya, Rory. Cheers Mate
